Since turning 30 a couple years back I have a total obsession with my skin! Even before then skin has always been something I have been really interested in, I feel with makeup you have to get the skin looking absolutely perfect or the rest of the makeup will not be great and the overall look will be messy. Makeup is of course amazing at creating the illusion of perfect skin but I want my skin to be looking good all the time with or without makeup. I also want my makeup to go on smoothly and last, this is where the health of your skin is so important.
This week I visited New Life Aesthetics in Raynes Park to find out what the next step in my skin care journey should be. The clinic has been open for a year now and is run by the amazing Mo Ashraf.
Mo has over twenty-five years experience in the aesthetics industry. She is one of the top leaders in the fields of laser and collagen treatments in London. She has owned and managed two leading clinics, as well as working closely with well-renowned plastic surgeons in Dubai. Mo has gained a huge amount of skills and knowledge which she now brings to us in Raynes Park providing a safe and honest approach, which she does by her continued research in the science and clinical studies of the latest aesthetic treatments and technology.
It was great to chat to Mo and work out what is best for my skin, she recommended that I should try out their light chemical peel. It was my first ever time having any sort of peel but I have heard great things about them so was really excited to try it out for myself. Peels are less invasive than injectable treatments, yet more dramatic than a facial, they are therefore perfect for anyone who is starting their journey into anti-ageing procedures or as a top-up treatment between Botox or Dermal Filler appointments. Peels come in different grades and I was trying out the lightest of them all, this meant that I could actually put makeup on straight away afterwards which was perfect for me as I had clients straight after. The light chemical peel removes the surface layers of dead cells, it can be used to treat fine wrinkles, acne, uneven skin tone and dryness. Chemical peels are one of the more inexpensive anti-ageing treatments and deliver maximum results with very little investment of time, risk or money. The stronger peels can help solve skin concerns such as hyperpigmentation, acne, rosacea, sun damage and more
First my skin was cleaned and any makeup taken off. The peel was applied in minutes, I was warned it would feel hot and uncomfortable, it was quite a strange feeling but did not last long and I felt in totally safe hands. The chemical peel was removed after just a few minutes and the burning feeling left just as quickly.
Next up was LED Light Therapy, where a LED light is placed over your face, the light waves are transmitted into the skin to enhance your complexion.
Light therapy is known for helping with multiple skin problems including fighting acne and dermatitis, and improving the look of scars and wrinkles.
There are 4 different coloured lights: red, blue, green and yellow, and Mo will decide what your skin needs most. For me she used Red, this is one of the most powerful colours to increase blood circulation. Stimulate skin cells to excrete collagen to achieve firm and smooth texture. Heating can improve blood circulation and collagen to reduce wrinkles and make skin more elastic and smoother
Next up was a lovely, cooling mask to moisturise, soothe and repair. It was like no other mask I had ever used before, it felt amazing!! This was left on for a few minutes, in which time I totally relaxed.
Afterwards my skin was left glowing and dewy, it felt clear and so smooth.
The next day when I was applying my foundation I felt that it went on much easier and lasted really well. I would highly recommend a chemical peel to anyone with a special event coming up where they want their skin to be at its absolute best.
Please note that after a chemical peel you will need to avoid alcohol, tobacco, harsh exfoliants and sun exposure for at least 48 hours, and use an SPF wherever possible after that. To maintain the effects, chemical peels should be undertaken once every 6-12 months.
The salon offers many other treatments too including, fat freezing, aesthetic injections, microneedling and so much more. I can’t wait to go back for lip filler and laser hair removal so watch this space for my next blogs. To find out more visit their website www.newlifeaesthetics.co.uk.
